SUPERMEN GETS A NEW MAKOVER.

I got on my computer today and this was one of the top stories on my homepage and it made me think of the article we read about Wonder Woman getting a makeover, and I thought these costumes were very similar in their dark characteristics.  So, I thought I would post it so people could take a look at it, and share their opinion.

YOU DONT HAVE TO COMMENT ON THIS, THIS IS JUST FOR FUN.

  1. I was just about to post this! I don't like this "new, youthful look." It's not Superman at all. I don't know who the artist is trying to appeal to.

  2. yeah I'm not sure if I do either. I think it will definitely appeal to the younger kids just because he looks big and tough, but we know his real image and they are trying to change it to something it is clearly not.

  3. They're probably doing this change in attempts to rejuvenate the series, and that doesn't really bother me. But it does bother me that super-man, wonder-woman, and even batman have jumped onto the dark-and-scary bandwagon. Superheroes have always been bright and heroic looking rather than mysterious, dark and brooding, until The Dark Night came out. I don't know much about this specific issue, but I think a lot of comic book makers are copying the mood of The Dark Night so more people will read their books. This is fine with me, because I'm not that huge of a superhero fan. But I don't want all my childhood heroes becoming antiheroes for attention.

  4. As a general design, I'm okay with it. As a design for Superman... just, no way. It's completely skewing the image us people, who grew up with him, have of him in our heads. Okay, so you're probably trying to rejuvenate the series, I get that, but I agree with Patrick: superheroes are supposed to look bright, heroic, a shining light. That's what they were originally, that what they've been for decades. Please, none of this "glowing red eyes" and "dark shadows" and "brooding scowl". All it's saying is that you're trying too hard.

  5. IT really seems to me that American youth have just grown bored with this traditional and relatively one dimensional interpretation of a superhero. People, more and more seem to love the vigilantes portrrayed in movies like the dark knight, as Patrick mentioned above, and like V for vendetta. I personally belive it's this demographic of modern superhero fanatics, primarily white middle-class youth, who are responsible for this shift. This demographic, in my opinion, seeks some vicarious sense of rebelliousness, but is just too scared to do anything. Perhaps we just lack any real suffering so we have play these big games of pretend in order to gain such significance.

  6. I am slightly terrified of this new "superman". Nothing about this new "Superman" makes me feel safe and like he would protect me from criminals...more like steal my lunch money and push me down into the gutter.

I personally am a very large fan of the old one. Pretty much he epitomizes what a superhero should be, I mean duh...SUPERman...it’s right there in the name. When you think of the perfect superhero costume, what do you think of? Superman. I am all in favor of the makeover that Wonder Woman got; she was definitely a little trashy, and she didn't appeal to as many people since her costume was the USA flag embodied, as it was described by the article we read.

I saw a lot of good reasons for her outfit to change in that article and to be honest, now she looks hot! Final verdict: Superman's new makeover-two thumbs down.

  7. Personally, I don't really like the change, but not everything can stay the same forever. There needs to be change in theme as the change in time passes us by. There are new styles, new trends, and new images in people's minds.

Does this remind anyone of smallville?

  9. I noticed that the same guy who changed Superman was the same who changed Wonder Woman. I feel as if they are trying to make the heroes more modern and edgy. They are also trying to appeal to a younger different crowd. This in my opinion doesn’t seem like a good idea because DC comics might lose some religious fans simply due to a costume change. Wonder Woman and Superman were just fine they way they were. But I believe this costume change will gain some new fans. Wonder Woman and Superman are entering the new era of comics and I see a bright future.
