We found this blog and found it very intriguing. This is not just your basic blog of a couple articles about superheroes and what is changing in their story lines, but it is in fact a modern version of that. There are many videos and links to websites that talk about everything comic book and superhero related. It discusses not only the comics themselves but the movies that are coming out, and if you look at older posts, there are videos from Comic-Con. In a way this deals with all sorts of media because there are articles, websites, videos, and pictures.
You are bound to find something on this blog you find interesting. There are a couple posts that are just plain weird, but whatever floats your boat is fine with us. So enjoy the blog.
I really enjoyed this blog. Like you guys mentioned, there are so many different things mentioned in this blog, from the new superhero movies, to tv shows, to the actual comic books. I personally also liked that the blogger posts the links as well as his opinions, which is what I think of when I think of a blog. The two articles that particularly interested me were the ones about the political tea parties and Smallville. For some reason, I have this impression that comic books are old news, and a dead media, and the article about the tea party references was kind of a reminder that comic books are actually still in print and people do go out every week and purchase them, and the content in the comic books are actually tied into everyday, modern life. And I enjoyed the Smallville article just because I watched the show when I was growing up.
ReplyDeleteI certainly enjoyed perusing this blog more than last weeks. This one had a lot more going on, links to all of the sources along with the publisher's comments. I also enjoyed that the blog posts were shorter and not all about just one superhero but moved around according to the newest information about any superhero. On just the main page I was able to read about Iron Man 2, the Thor movie, super hero porn(!?), and the Green Lantern. Though I am personally not into the classic superheroes, it's nice to be able to have the option of so many to read about. This site also seems really informative. It not only gives the publishers view point, but also allows the audience to view the link from where he got his information and create their own opinions. For anyone really into the superheroes and the movies and everything else that goes around the topic, they certainly have a great blog to visit. The publisher does a good job finding different sources and making them available to the audience. I can only wonder if anyone from class will secretly start visiting this blog from now on!
ReplyDeleteFrom the first glimpse of this blog, there is nothing really to draw you into the content. The background is plan and there are only ads on the side columns. However, the content of Justice Blog of America has some interesting post. The superhero porn titled post was the most intriguing. To be able to relate porn to the set up of a comic is a very unique way of getting a point across. Also, I find it an advantage that the author post real life articles and then gives their own opinion of the material. This helps the readers be able to form their own opinion and not just take the blogger’s statements for the truth.
ReplyDeleteLike Katlyn said, at first glance this blog is nothing special. It's a plain, simple, two-color layout with no ads and just text; perhaps a little laughable, too, with the "Earth's Mightiest Superhero Blog!" right underneath its title. But what the site lacks in aesthetics it makes up with its content. Just scrolling down the page gives you a ton of information--links to articles, trailers, and miscellany still relevant to the blog's superheo theme. It brings up a thought: this site really doesn't need to have a colorful background or fancy font. It isn't a site that was planned to make you stay on it for long periods of time--it was planned to send you to a variety of different places related to a single topic (offering you a snarky opinion along the way), and it does this well with its simplicity.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of this blog, to be completely honest. I feel like its' set up says "Hey, if you're interested in this topic, click on this!" and "If you enjoy this very similar topic, click this!", but the thing was, I wasn't really interested in anything that it had posted. Yes, the links led to lots of different pages with several different attributes, but I felt as if the creators of this specific blog were not reaching out to a broad audience. Personally, I am not a huge fan of all things superhero related, so if I were to randomly stumble upon this blog, I certainly would not stay and read it. Maybe if it had some relation to unexpected heroes in modern society, or HARRY POTTER, then I would be interested, but the fact that they stuck so closely to typical hero content turned me off from it. Sorry to be a killjoy; just voicing an opinion :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm not gonna lie, I found the blog to be pretty one dimensional as far as its content, and, being one who isn't a fan of superhero stories, I didn't find it to be very interesting. I find it really difficult to actually try to voice any unique opinion about, but that's because I really don't have any opinion whether good or bad. I would agree with olivia that I thought it stuck too strictly to the topic. Thus, I thought it really didn't report on anything too provocative or exciting, but instead gave basic info concerning superhero culrture.
ReplyDeleteFirst let me say that this site is in desperate need of at least a mediocre HTML programmer. Not only is the layout and color scheme of the blog absolutely dismal, it lacks severely in organization. It seems there is almost no separation between the different posts, making differentiating between the different articles incredibly difficult.
ReplyDeleteNow that I've got that off my chest, the content of the posts themselves was actually quite interesting. Many of you have commented on how you think the content was too simple. One must keep in mind that simplicity is the purpose of a blog. It is the Original Poster's job to supply a simple topic, while it is the duty of the reader and commenter to create more interesting discussion. I think this blog does a decent job of supplying information for discussion. Specifically, the critiques of modern superhero movies. My favorite article on this blog was definitely the "If Wes Anderson Directed Spiderman". It was hilarious.
Immediately, it was difficult to pay attention to the blog posts. There were too many things going on in the sidebar, and it was just too boring to look at to actually want to read.
ReplyDeleteThe tags suggested there were lots of posts about Batman and Superman, but I was disappointed that the first few pages were mostly taken up by Captain America. I'm not really a fan of superheroes and comic books, so if I can't read about the heroes I DO care about, I'm not interested. However the articles are very well written and I appreciate the amount of links to sources and other articles.
I enjoyed reading this blog. I could tell that the author is very interested in his subject; he obviously spends a lot of time researching new topics and blogging about them. He also seems pretty dedicated to the blog. Besides a giant hiatus from February until March, he posts quite regularly. His posts vary in subject matter, from rumors about upcoming movies to responding to the newest comics.
ReplyDeleteI also like the section of the blog called “Hey Kids! Comics!” In this section of the blog, he talks about how he got interested in comics to begin with. I think it is nice to know his background because then we, as readers, can understand his point of view a little more.
I have noticed that all of his blog posts are pretty different. As many others have pointed out, a lot of the blog posts are just links to direct you to other blogs. But in some of the posts, he gives the reader his opinion. For instance, in his newest post, which he just posted today, he comments on the title of the most recent Batman comic, and how eye-catching and suspenseful it it. I think it is refreshing to see him post about his own opinions, rather than just sending information to us all the time. I enjoyed reading this blog. (And I’m learning more about super heroes than I ever thought I would!)
I enjoyed this blog post, to a certain extent. Its just a guy talking about the up and coming superhero movies and displaying what he thinks of them. He is certainly knowledgable on the topic of superhero comics and movies. Fantastic Four was pretty bad.
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to learn of the new Marvel movies that will be coming to theaters before the previews come out. I love most of those movies and would like to see more.
It seems like the authors of this blog have good ideas, but that they don't really know what to do with them or how to display them in a way that is interesting to others. Simply posting movie trailers and who may or may not play certain characters in a movie is more than likely not going to interest very many people. It's extremely easy to find this information using google, youtube, etc. so it seems like the point of this blog (which SEEMS to be to inform people of superhero realted happenings, especially upcoming movies) is something that any person who has ever used google could find in a matter of seconds.
ReplyDeleteI really like the amount of information, links, and updates that are put up in this blog. I was always a fan of comics, but it seems like the comic days are moving away. The new age is turning comics into movies. Which for the most part, is actually going quite well. I have really loved the stream of superhero movies that have been released and I'm really looking forward to more in the future.
ReplyDeleteI think this blog has a concise and easy to read interface. The layout is neat and each post has an intriguing title. Although he does not have a dedicated audience, he posts regularly at a consistent level of depth in his writing content. His content is all related to superhero topics, and many posts focus on superhero movies. The author does not refrain from including personal opinions in the writing. One blog title blatantly states, "It’s official: The Captain America movie is going to suck." Many of the author's posts have hook titles like the above mentioned and take strong stances. It is interesting that despite the author's level of interest, there are little to no comments.
ReplyDeleteThis blog is full of information and the author gives it his own humorous personality. He seems to genuinely enjoy blogging because even with a lack of interaction with his readers (no comments) he posts with regularity. If your into superheroes and are looking to get the scoop on what is going on with them in relation to the media this is a good place to check out and the author's writing style may make you want to come back. That being said, it appeals to a very small audience and unless I'm crazy about a superhero movie thats about to come out, not likely I'm coming back.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I agree that the site might be a little plain and mundane, but It really does show the interest the author has towards comic related news. Some of the topic, such as the "Superhero Porn" is funny but to understand the content you have to be well connected to the comic world. I also like the fact that the blogger uses current events instead just blogging about old comics, it keeps the blog more alive and timely.
ReplyDeleteMuch respect to this blogger, it is obvious that he is passionate about his way of life. And, props to that man for defending what he cherishes. I myself have never a subscriber to habitual mass media sensory intake, but I digress.
